Born on January 7, 1995 in Artá, Balearic Islands, Enric Mas has been riding for Movistar Team since 2020. He began his professional career in 2016 with the Klein Constantia team after catching the eye as an amateur the year before by coming second in the Vuelta a Bidasoa. That year he won the Volta ao Alentejo (plus one stage) and the Tour de Savoie. Thus, after attracting a lot of attention, he signed in 2017 for the Quick-Step team, racing that same year the Vuelta a España.
In that year 2017 he managed to finish 14th in the Itzulia and the Tour of California. Then, he drew attention by finishing second in the Vuelta a Burgos after finishing second in the queen stage with finish in Lagunas de Neila behind Miguel Ángel López. Then, he raced his first Vuelta a España, finishing third in the sixth stage finishing in Sagunto and in the top 20 in the Angliru stage, showing his good legs;
In 2018 he began to draw attention in the Itzulia after going unnoticed in the Tour Down Under, Volta ao Algarve and Volta a Catalunya. At the Itzulia Basque Country he took his first victory by winning the final stage with the classic finish in Arrate. He finished sixth overall. Immediately after he took his first overall by winning the Hammer Limburg. In the Tour de Suisse he finished fourth and faced the Vuelta a España in top form. There he confirmed himself as one of the greats of the international peloton by finishing second overall and winning the penultimate stage finishing on the Collada de la Gallina;
In 2019, in his last season at Quick-Step, he didn't have his best year. He finished fourth in Algarve, ninth in the Volta a Catalunya, 14th in Itzulia, ninth in the Tour de Suisse and debuted in the Tour de France without too much fortune and without drawing too much attention (22nd overall and a ninth place in the Pau time trial as best position). He finished the year in good form with a tenth place in Milano-Torino, 13th in Il Lombardia and winning a stage and the overall of the Tour of Guangxi in China, his first World Tour stage-race win.
2020 was his first season in Movistar Team and the number 5 was his protagonist number because in that position he finished in the Criterium du Dauphine, the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España. A very solid season in the grand tours that gave hope for his future.
He started the year 2021, his second in Movistar Team, without shining at all in the Tour de la Provence, the Volta a Catalunya and the Itzulia. His first results came in the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, where he finished third overall and won the stage finishing on the Alto de la Reina. He then finished eleventh in the Dauphine and third in the Mont Ventoux Challenge before tackling the Tour de France again.
Enric arrived in Paris sixth, leaving a bittersweet feeling. With the best, but always staying in the key moments and unable to fight for stage wins. In the Vuelta a España he had no chance against Primoz Roglic and finished second again. Again very solid, but unable to beat the Slovenian.
2022 was a very complicated year for Enric Mas. After finishing fourth in Valencia he suffered crashes in Tirreno Adriatico, Itzulia Basque Country and Critérium du Dauphine that made him arrive at the Tour de France with very little confidence. In the Grand Boucle he had a really bad time, lack of confidence especially on the descents (he ended up having to abandon the race due to Covid-19 in the final week).
After putting himself in the hands of specialists, he faced the Vuelta with a different mentality. He showed again a very good level and fought the race against Remco Evenepoel and Primoz Roglic, finishing the race again in second position. His end of the year was brilliant, beating Tadej Pogacar in the Giro dell'Emilia, helping Alejandro Valverde in his last professional races and finishing second behind Pogacar in Il Lombardia.
